Nigel, a Chartered Tax Adviser with over 25 years of experience, spent 18 years in “Big 4” firms. He trained at Touche Ross, earning his CTA qualification, then joined KPMG, specialising in HMRC investigations and disputes. After 7 years with Grant Thornton’s Disputes Team, he joined Trident Tax in 2019.
Nigel has extensive experience handling all types of civil HMRC interventions, from routine enquiries to serious tax fraud investigations under COP9. He has also supported clients facing HMRC criminal investigations.
Specialising in disclosures, he helps clients navigate HMRC processes, secure optimal outcomes, and regularise tax underpayments related to offshore and onshore assets, as well as unsuccessful tax planning. In recent years, Nigel has spent much of his time advising clients involved in historic tax avoidance schemes—helping them manage settlement negotiations, minimise exposure, and resolve long-running matters with HMRC.
